Greenfuse often expands its capabilities
through collaboration with one or more companies who are technical experts.
They are leaders in their respective fields and have the ability to
work together to develop integrated, sustainable solutions that are
cost-effective and creative. The following are examples of the
technical experts who meet our qualifications and can provide superior
service to our clients. Their skills include mechanical engineering
(HVAC), architectural and lighting design, funding resources, as well as offering
specific expertise. Sim Van der Ryn is a renowned leader in sustainable architecture. The
theme of his career has been applying principles of physical and social
ecology to architecture and environmental design. Appointed California State Architect by Governor Jerry
Brown, he developed the nation's first government-initiated energy efficient
office building program, and led the adoption of energy standards and
disability access standards for all construction in California. As an
educator and researcher, Van der Ryn has played a major role in bringing
ecological design awareness and practice to children and adults of all
ages. While a Professor of Architecture at UC Berkeley, a position he
held for over thirty years, he was a key force in establishing Berkeley's
international reputation as a leading school focusing on issues of socially
and environmentally responsible design. He also founded the Farallones Institute that helped
to create national awareness of "ecologically integrated living
design." The Farallones Institute designed, built, and managed
an urban and a rural research/teaching center for studying appropriate
technologies, energy-efficiency, organic agriculture, land restoration,
community design and ecologically sustainable energy and waste systems,
design and construction. Van der Ryn trained as an architect, earning a degree
from University of Michigan, and holds licenses from California and
New Mexico; and certification from the National Council of Architectural
Registration. Dave Deppen is a service-oriented green architect with over twenty-five
years experience in innovative ecological design and sustainable projects.
The common thread through his projects is environmentally-advanced,
people-friendly design. Clients he has served include the University
of California System, the California State University System, the California
Community College System, Stanford, the U.S. State Department, the New
York Botanical Gardens and numerous private commercial and residential
clients. As a teacher and facilitator, Deppen co-founded the environmental
architecture program at the San Francisco Institute of Architecture.
He currently teaches popular courses on Ecological Land Analysis and
Architecture and Human Behavior. He is recognized as an inspiring facilitator
for workshops and group sessions. He has special expertise in both early
project goal setting and ecological land planning and deep technical
experience in the follow-through for successful project design, documentation
and coordination. Deppen holds a B. Arch. Degree from Penn State. He is
certified by the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards,
is a LEED Accredited Professional and corporate member of the
U.S. Green Building Council. Rumsey Engineers, Inc. is a nationally-recognized design engineering

Peter H. Rumsey, P.E. and Principal,
has over twenty years of experience in the engineering and energy field.
As an international player in energy efficiency, he has gained deep
experience covering government, scientific, and private sector activities,
and has worked on the design and improvement of buildings and industrial
processes on four continents. His expertise includes the design of efficient
HVAC systems in various types of buildings, the design of energy monitoring
systems, the analysis of the financial impacts of energy systems, the
management of project teams, and the analysis of design options using
computer simulation tools such as DOE2 and Electric Eye.
