SOLUTIONS

Problem: Community College in Maryland needed to reduce energy costs and provide a more comfortable working and learning environment.
Solution: Greenfuse team with energy-efficient designer/mechanical engineers and lighting designer conducted week-long, comprehensive energy and lighting reduction audit. Provided 120+ page report documenting recommendations, implementation schedule, summary of savings equaling 26%, and an ROI average of 33%, and 3-year payback.

Problem: Community College in Maryland wanted to measure and report the emissions (CO2, etc.) from its operations.
Solution: Greenfuse team with emissions quantification expert collected equipment energy use data, as well as direct and indirect emissions data, and vehicle miles traveled to establish a baseline. Then, based on energy reduction program implementation, Greenfuse quantified direct and indirect emissions reduction impacts of each option.

Problem: Client wanted to replace existing, old technology chilled water plant (mid-'70s) to reduce energy & maintenance costs. Expressed concern about water used by equipment.
Solution: Recommended replacing with a more efficient screw-compressor-based chiller and cooling tower (draw-through), and updating with variable speed pumps. Installed waterless urinals to compensate for water use in the chiller.

Problem: Client wanted to renovate and add more space to existing building and achieve LEED certification. Already had one design that would not achieve certification at any level.
Solution: Greenfuse and its architect and engineer worked with the client and their local architect to revise the design to achieve LEED gold or silver level. Greenfuse also secured a $30,000 grant from the state's energy office to support the redesign for LEED certification.

Problem: State university in California needed to reduce water use on campus, based on limited local water supply.
Solution: Greenfuse worked with the client and identified the best no-water using urinal manufacturer to conduct a pilot in a key building. The manufacturer provided 4 urinals for a 6-month pilot which resulted in a campus-wide program.

Problem: Community-based organization in Monterey County needed to expand its board and membership support to fulfill its vision of a new center, with an ecologically-sensitive design.
Solution: Greenfuse worked with the director and key board members to plan and implement a robust strategic planning session, resulting in a document to be used for fund- and friend-raising.
